Timeline California and Bali, 1984 - 2011

There came a time as I sorted through a jungle of conflicting documents that I thought maybe a graphic timeline would help clarify the dates.

I didn't really help; I still find this totally bewildering.

But what did become clear is what a police investigator, Hagnyono, later pointed out as a "consiousness of fraud." People committing fraud often become nervous and begin to feel that if one document is good, what if it is not enought and is found out? Maybe more documents would be better and safer as backup. So they begin to compile more and more evidence, often forgetting what they had previously sworn, acquiring evidence even if it contradicts itself.

In frauds, he told me, they are often caught not because they didn't do enough but because they did too much. One fraudulent document can be hard to catch, but whole armloads of them are easier.
